About Communities

STUDENT SOCIETIES

 

General Principle             

                                                                 

Our university's student communities and the tasks undertaken in these communities support students to take part in existing communities or create new student communities in accordance with the laws, regulations and rules in force, in order to develop students' leadership skills, interpersonal social relations and decision-making skills, with the awareness of their place in campus life. With such activities, it is aimed to increase the quality of university life of students by helping their social, cultural and academic development and to raise self-confident and responsible individuals.

 

Activities and functioning of student societies

(1) Student clubs organize cultural, artistic, scientific, sportive and technological activities such as shows, photography and film screenings, concerts, panels, workshops, congresses and conferences, taking part in festivals and fairs, research, examination and observation in accordance with their purposes, and provide university education. They contribute to life and education.

(2)  Within the scope of community activities, if it is determined that the community engages in activities that are contrary to and different from the Artvin Çoruh University Student Societies Framework Directive and the founding purposes specified in the community's own charter, the community is closed down with the recommendation of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports and the approval of the Rectorate.

(3)  Those who do not carry out at least three activities in line with their purpose in an academic year, who do not submit their work report to the Department of Health, Culture and Sports by June 15 at the latest, and who do not submit the activity program to the Department of Health, Culture and Sports by the end of the first month of each academic year, and who do not elect the Board of Directors within the period specified in the statute. The community is warned in writing with the recommendation of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports and the approval of the Rectorate. If the above-mentioned documents are not submitted to the Department of Health, Culture and Sports in the next academic year, the community will be closed with the recommendation of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports and the approval of the Rectorate.

(4)  If the community that is warned for not doing the necessary work does not work in the next period or does not elect the Board of Directors, it is closed with the recommendation of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports and the approval of the Rectorate.

(5) The community that does not comply with the above-mentioned issues, does not notify the election results and does not work in the fields of activity specified in their statutes or operates in contrary areas is closed with the recommendation of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports and the approval of the Rectorate.

(6) Communities with fewer than 15 registered members, other than the Board of Directors, cannot be allowed to hold events.

 

Announcement and promotion of the activities of the communities

(1) Student groups can benefit from the university units listed below and receive consultancy services from the authorities in the announcement and promotion of their activities.

a) SKS Department Cultural Affairs Branch Directorate,

b) Information Technology Department,

c) Student Council Presidency,

 

(2) Student communities must use the community name and the Artvin Çoruh University logo together in correspondence, posters, announcements and events. (In event posters prepared by student groups, the Artvin Çoruh University logo should be placed in the upper left corner of the poster. If there is an official institution that supports the event, its logo should be placed in the upper right corner, and company logos should be placed under the poster. The name of the community organizing the event and its logo, if any, must be included on the posters.

 

Use of university spaces

Student groups can use university venues free of charge to carry out permitted activities.

 

Sponsorship and donation support

(1)  Student communities may receive sponsorship or donation support from various real or legal persons in order to provide financial resources for their activities.

a) Sponsorship;

1- First, written information should be given to the SKS Department about the nature of the cooperation and support to be provided,

2- After receiving the Rector's approval, a protocol specifying the form and financial value of the sponsorship should be signed with the sponsor, and preparations should begin after the protocol is delivered to the SKS Department.

 

b) Donation;

1- Petitions should be received from real or legal persons who want to donate to support the activities of student communities,

2- After receiving the Rector's approval, cash donations can be used in the relevant item of the University account, and in-kind donations can be used after being recorded in the movable records.

3- Student groups cannot receive donations in cash or on their own accounts.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Sponsorship and donation support cannot be of a nature that would subject the University to legal and financial liability. Sponsorship proposals from companies that produce and market alcohol and tobacco products are not accepted.

 

Books and documents to be kept

(1) The books and documents written below are numbered and sealed on each page by the SKS Department and delivered to the club president for signature.

a) Member registry book,

b) Incoming and outgoing document book,

c) Decision book,

d) Asset registry book,

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: All Artvin Çoruh University students who register for courses can become members of student groups of their choice. A student can be a member of more than one society, but cannot sit on more than one board of directors.
